Which Way: Silence
Pilate, The only witness that stood for him that day also turned him over to the Jewish authorities for death.
The Pharisees wanted to do certain things to Jesus Christ but didn't because they feared the people
Caiaphas who was the High Priest in the Jewish religion recommended Death for Jesus. Pilate, who was the supreme voice of Rome in Judea consented to allow this innocent man to die.
But my friends…there was yet a higher court that would be able to hear and decide the fate of the Messiah…yes there was a court higher than the High Priest and Higher than the voice of Rome…Do you know where that court was located?
It was located in the peoples voice, the court of public sentiment.
This was not a private execution in the back of the hall of injustice…Christ was tried and executed in the city of Jerusalem at Feast Time…he died the presence of multitudes of people. These people played a greater role in the death of Christ than they could ever imagine…It was not what they did…it was what they failed to do.
When we look at our politicians today we see a lot of this silence when it comes to religious activities. Many say they can't deal with the ungodliness they see in the world. But they also say “I cannot identify with the self righteousness and hypocrisy I find among certain people in the church”, so they simply remain silent on the subject of religion.
